The Phillies placed Trea Turner on the paternity list prior to Tuesday’s game in San Diego…which just so happens to be exactly nine months after the shortstop signed his 11-year, $300 million mega contract with the Phillies.

What incredible timing.

The 30-year-old MLB star and his wife, Kristen Harabedian (now Turner) announced in an Instagram post in March they were expecting a baby boy, their second.

The couple share a son, Beckham Dash, who turned two in February.

Turner got off to an underwhelming start to his Phillies career but has since rebounded to post respectable numbers.

The shortstop is slashing .262/.311/.450/.761 with 22 homers, 65 RBIs and 25 stolen bases.

Turner was just named National League Player of the Week after hitting .423 with six home runs, 14 RBIs and nine runs scored this past week.

He is riding a 15-game hitting streak, the longest active one in the majors, and is hitting .358 with 10 homers during this stretch.

Turner has helped the Phillies create distance in the wild card race, and they certainly could’ve used the two-time All-Star in Tuesday’s 8-0 loss to the Padres.

The veteran can miss up to three games while on paternity list, and the Phillies close out their series with the Padres on Wednesday before heading home for a weekend series with the Marlins starting Friday.

Turner is expected back Friday for the game at Citizens Bank Park, according to The Athletic.

Weston Wilson, a corner infielder/outfielder, was recalled from the Triple-A Lehigh Valley affiliate to temporarily take Turner’s place on the 28-man active roster.

Turner signed with the Phillies after spending one and a half seasons with the Dodgers, following six and a half years with the Nationals that included a World Series title in 2019.

He’s a career .296 hitter with an .831 OPS.

Turner and his wife, a former NC State gymnast, will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary in November.
