Forecast in detail

Monday delivered decent downpours to parts of the area, and now we have three more days to keep working on our rainfall deficit as a stalled front keeps rain chances going through Thursday. While we could reach 90 today, the rest of the workweek should hold in the humid 80s. This upcoming final weekend of July (can you believe it?) should deliver mostly sunny skies and highs closer to 90 again, but not too humid.

Today (Tuesday): Mostly cloudy for most of the day, but enough periods of partial sunshine should help highs to the upper 80s and low 90s. It’s quite humid (dew points near 70) with a light wind from the southwest around 5 to 10 mph. Only an isolated shower possible until a better chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after about 5 p.m., some of which could produce heavy downpours. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms during the evening should gradually diminish overnight. Skies run partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the low to mid-70s. Light winds are mainly from the south at 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and afternoon thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon into evening. Heavy downpours are possible again. It’s not as hot, with highs in the mid- to upper 80s, but still rather humid. Light winds come from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph, except gustier around any storms. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Mostly cloudy with continued scattered showers and storms. Muggy lows mainly in the low to mid-70s again. Confidence: Medium

A look ahead

Thursday features continued cloudiness with scattered showers and storms, again mainly during the afternoon into evening. Highs range through the humid mid- to upper 80s. More clouds, more showers, and some thunderstorms are possible Thursday night with lows in the upper 60s to mid-70s. Confidence: Medium

Friday could find some lingering clouds in the morning, but skies should trend partly to mostly sunny by afternoon. Highs head for the mid- to upper 80s as humidity decreases during the day, with dew points dropping into the more comfortable low to-mid 60s (yay!). Friday night should be mostly clear with lows in the 60s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend looks mostly sunny with marginally hotter highs in the upper 80s to near 90, but with just moderate humidity as dew points hold in the 60s. Rain chances look to be very low. Saturday night should be mostly clear with lows in the 60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium
