The nature area includes 11 miles of hiking trails, the Lanesville Heritage Area, Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum, two covered picnic pavilions (available for rent), Frogshackle Nature Center in an 1860s log cabin and two fishing ponds. The last known undeveloped section of Vestals Gap Road runs through the park. The trail was used by Native Americans, settlers traveling between Alexandria and the Shenandoah Valley, George Washington traveling between Mount Vernon and the western frontier and Gen. Edward Braddock’s troops, including Daniel Boone, during the French and Indian War.
